LISTEN • PRESERVE • ENHANCE

Nicole Belolan moved to Riverton in 2018, attracted by the town’s historic qualities, abundant shade trees, sense of community, and ease of transit via the River LINE.
Looking for a way to spend time early in the COVID pandemic, she tuned into a zoom Borough Council meeting and got hooked on local government. She immediately appreciated the dedication of the Borough’s volunteer government and saw opportunities to increase civic engagement and advocate for transparent communications.
As a member (and now Chair) of the Green Team and member of the Environmental Commission, Nicole started a popular monthly e-update that provides residents with news about Borough environmental initiatives as well as educational and recreational opportunities related to the environment and sustainability. She is in the process of completing the Rutgers Environmental Stewards certificate and is excited to continue collaborating with residents, business owners, and Borough staff to make Riverton more green. Nicole has also served on the historic preservation round-table, the parking round-table, and as a 4th of July Pet Pageant judge. Nicole runs a business as a consulting public historian for museums and other non-profits and specializes in disability history and accessibility in public spaces. She holds a PhD in American history and is an avid museum goer, antique collector, and native plant gardener.
Nicole shares her home with her husband Tyler, which they have been restoring since moving in, and three beloved cats. Stop by Nicole’s house on the 600 block of Thomas Avenue to say hi and tour the garden!
